Crestwood performs at Chess Championship

Last week five top members of the Crestwood Chess Club travelled to St. Michael’s College for a marathon day of chess matches.  The teams played four two-hour matches over the course of the day.  Our team came into the tournament ranked 8th in our division, and our goal was to perform better than our ranking.  After a tough opening match to Glenforest S.S. from Peel Region, our team rebounded with strong performances against Marc Garneau C.I., St. Basil the Great C.H.S. and York Mills C.I., with all of our team members contributing wins.  Overall, we finished 6th in our division and feel like we acquitted ourselves well.

Congratulations to Owen Salter, Alex Comanita, Daven Siu, David Huang and our team captain Sean McNamara.

The sign-up sheet for next week’s ladder matches will be up on Wednesday.  Only two more weeks to qualify for our in-house Great Crestwood Chess Tournament!
