Thank you for your support!

Dear Crestwood Families,

“A trip to Mastermind.”  “Buying a toy.”  “Hot chocolate after skiing.”

“Going to see a movie.”  “A trip to McDonald’s.”  “Ordering from Pizza Pizza.”

These are only a few of the treats and privileges that Crestwood students chose to skip in support of Lifeline Syria. This fundraiser grew out of the Grade 6 students’ desire to make a meaningful contribution after hearing guest speaker Zakaria Mohammed Mokdad, who shared his experiences as a Syrian refugee settling in Toronto.  Moved by his story, and confident that Crestwood students would want to help, the Grade 6 class organized and promoted a Skip It fundraiser.

Following the Grade 6 presentations to their classes, 106 Crestwood students and staff decided to take personal action to make a difference by forgoing personal luxuries and instead donating the dollar values. Over the past week, our students contributed $1646.20 for Lifeline Syria Fund at Toronto Foundation.

Students recorded their acts of giving on house colour leaves, which are displayed on Giving Trees in the Atrium and outside the Library.  We are very proud of the initiative our students have shown, and thank them and their families for their support of this worthwhile cause.

Sincerely,

Grade 6 Teachers
