Winter Festival of the Arts

Thursday evening, the music students in Grades 8-12 performed for family and friends at the Annual Holiday Concert. The Grade 8 class played three festive pieces to kick off the holiday season. … “Dance Celebration”, “A French Noel” and “Glorioso”. Following that, the Junior Jazz Band impressed the audience with their swinging renditions of “Topsy” and  “The James Bond Theme”. The Crestwood Voices continued the program with two moving vocal pieces, “Simple Gifts” and “I Dream a World”. The Grade 9/10 band opened their set with a contemporary classical piece, “The Quest”, which showed off their ensemble playing and followed up with two real crowd pleasers, “ Bohemian Rhapsody” and “The Best of Glee”. The Senior Jazz Band kept pace with their rousing performance of “Night Train”, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” and the Duke Ellington jazz classic “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”. To close, the Grade 11/12 Band  performed “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Hanukkah Festival of Lights” and Highlights from “Pirates of the Caribbean”.  In addition to wonderful musical performances, beautiful pieces of artwork from students in Grades 8-12 were displayed around the school to view as well!
