Robert (Bob) Hoover was born May 3, 1924 in South Cayuga, Ontario. He grew up in a large farm family there, one of 12 children. When the war came, Bob went into the RCAF and the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, where he was trained as an aero engine mechanic. Bob serviced the great bombers of the day, including the Lancaster, and he and the other ground crew kept them in the air for the nightly raids flown over Germany. When the war was over Bob came home to southern Ontario, where he married and started his own family and business. Bob Hoover was interviewed at his home in Caledonia by Scott Masters and Zach Dunn in March 2025.
