Academic Adjustment to Timetable

Dear Crestwood Preparatory College Family and Friends:

We have all been obliged to alter courses frequently in the last year. Current circumstances require some redirection in our academic journey.

Had we known we would be teaching online to this extent when we returned from the break, we would not have continued our two-course a day schedule. That schedule works well as a safe and reasonable in-person learning module. The prospect of online learning being extended beyond February 10th requires some schedule adjustment. At the same time, the hope and possibility of having our kids back in school in the next few weeks calls for additional deliberation as far as changes are concerned. In other words, when we reconvene, even in stages (elementary students coming back before high school students, as happened in the first call back) we will be on our two-course schedule for all grade levels.

Since it currently appears that online learning will be extended beyond the projected February 10th deadline, CPC will move to a four-course a day schedule beginning on Monday, February 1st, with reduced period lengths. We will still maintain some breaks in the day and the length of the school day will be shortened by about 30 minutes. While this schedule is better for online purposes, we still have to monitor homework amounts, etc. carefully. It is not our intention to increase student (or parent) workload by increasing the number of daily lessons.

Our four-courses per day schedule is linked below. As with all things imperfect, we will forsake some advantages for others. I have no doubt, however, that more frequent interaction and a shorter duration of engagement will serve our students and families better in the event of an extended online learning directive.

Thank you all for your patience, kindness, and support.
