Sports Round-Up: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer

On October 30th, the U-14 Girls Basketball team played their final 2 games of the season. The first game was against Havergal. The girls played a great team game, controlling the possession and inevitably with strong offensive play beating Haveruygal by a score of 43-18.  By winning, the girls went to the finals against TFS.  The girls got off to a great start, with Jordan Kosoy, Abby Poitras, Jenna Smellie, Hailey  Macguire, and Jolie Drummond controlling the play and dominating on both sides of the floor.  Playing their best game of the season the girls never looked back, beating TFS by a score of 44-18,  bringing back home the CISAA U-14 Girls Div 1 Championship. Coaches Pagano and Krenk would like to thank the girls for all of their hard work this season,  one they should be very pleased with. Good luck to the Junior and Senior Basketball teams as they go for their championships in the upcoming days.  Click to view photos!

The Jr. Boys Volleyball team entered the playoffs, facing Greenwood College School on October 30th.  The home advantage was certainly in our favour, since the team looked fantastic on the court (likely playing the best we’ve ever played) and sweeping the match, winning 3 games straight. Coaches Smith and Doble were beyond proud of all players’ efforts, communication and spirit yesterday, and we congratulate the team on making it to the semi-finals. We’ll be playing at Royal St. George’s College on Saturday morning. If you’re in the neighbourhood, we’d love for you to come cheer us on this weekend!

It was a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon, but yet the Junior Boys Soccer team played a playoff game against Rosseau Lake.  The game was a back and forth affair with many chances from both teams.   The score was tied 2-2 at full time, so we headed to extra time looking for the golden goal.  Every player was rain-soaked and numb from the cold, but that did not stop them from giving an unbelievable effort.  The effort paid off as Jamie MacGregor scored the winning goal.  Other goal scorers were Jayden Connors and Lucas Costa.  The boys will head to St. Andrews College this Saturday to play for the championship.  Click to view photos!
