Valentines for Vets

The grade one and two students have been working hard in French class by recently participating in a program called “Valentines for Vets”. The program entails students making Valentine’s Day cards for retired veterans who reside in long-term care facilities across Canada. All cards are sent to the sorting station in PEI where volunteers sort and distribute cards to various veterans, and in particular, to veterans who reside in French-speaking facilities. Cards of all shapes and sizes have been made over the past few weeks and all include messages written in French ranging from “Merci pour tout” to “Joyeuse Saint-Valentin”. Students felt a sense of accomplishment and pride for having participated in this program. Bravo mes ami(e)s!
